| 1 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Books.parquet | Books | 1.0 | A disappointment. | This book is promoted as, "... improved printing quality..." among other things. I'd hate to see what it looked like before the publisher improved it.
While the information is a very good compilation, the book designer should be given time out in a very dark corner. From choice of font, to page layout, the book is really hard to read. The text falls into the gutter (inside margin) which means you'd have to crack the spine to access it easily. The single-column layout is over 7 inches wide, which, for the point size of the type, wearies the eye when reading. The headings are in a decorative font that's outlined, which makes them challenging to read, and again in a point size designed for someone with perfect vision, which isn't me! Sadly, the attempt to cut down the page count has made this book irritating at best. This is not something I would spend time reading through casually for interest or education.
For a paperback priced at almost $40, it is not a good value in terms of usability. I do not recommend this book. | 1732557101 | 1732557101 | AGABI3V5ETMLCCVBR6IWD4CMQQEA | 1574188339633 | 1204 | True | 185 | 3 |
| 1 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Electronics.parquet | Electronics | 1.0 | Cheap chinese panel! | Beware of all Samsung LED LCD sets. They outsource most of the panels to three companies: AU optronics, Chi Mei optoelectronics and sharp. They are all inferior to Samsung Panels with Sharp being the next best, AU third and CMO or now called Innolux. Samsung only ships sets to raters and shows with the Samsung panels inside. What does that tell you. I saw this set at BB and it looked fantastic. Bought it on Amazon and it was delivered two days later. Amazon rocks by the way!. Set it up and calibrated it. Blacks looked poor and the contrast was poor. Off axis viewing was poor. Picture grainy and I have the sharpness down to 0. Called Samsung and of course they said this was not a service issue but would forward my complaint to the important people. Amazon cannot search their warehouse for the version to replace this set with a real Samsung TV. On the sticker on the box and behind the set, there is a version number. If it starts with a T then you win the Samsung Panel Lottery. If it does not you lose! Here is a link to the info:[...]. | 1 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Home_and_Kitchen.parquet | Home_and_Kitchen | 1.0 | Gotham Steel is the worst nonstick I have ever owned. | If I could give this product zero stars I would! Worked well the first three times I used it, thereafter food sticks to the pan even if I use a substantial amount of oil. As demonstrated in the pictures I have attached, eggs stuck to the pan even with oil and butter! I figured I had received a defective product so I called Gotham steel customer service to exchange the pan as it should be under at least a 6 month warranty. Customer service was rude and short with me, bottom line there is NO warranty on this pan and the only recommendation offered was that I buy a new one??? This product must of had some chemical or coating that wears off after a couple of uses, because it just doesn't work after three uses and washes. I Simultaneously bought the copper chef pan and that actually works. I have used it multiple times for about 5 months now and it never sticks. I don't know what the manufactured difference is between the copper and Gotham pan, but the bottom line is that copper works and the Gotham steel pan just doesn't! | B018T909XG | B09KMGJ4FM | AEFH6L2FDUUT5JM2CD54PUP4QDCA | 1466294969000 | 1045 | True | 193 | 3 |

I don’t usually wait so long to write a review but we’re talking about a mattress here.

Opening: The memory foam was easy to unpack and took 24hrs to fully expand to size. There was a smell upon first opening but it was gone by the next day.

6months in: The mattress was holding up great.

1yr in: I thought I was going crazy that I could feel the metal frame of our bed frame through the mattress. I felt like it was starting to loose support but not enough to where I lost sleep over it.

2yrs in: Now my husband agreed we could DEFINITELY feel the metal through the mattress. We flipped it regularly and still didn’t help. Why didn’t we buy a new mattress?!?!

3yrs in: Holy hell my back, thighs, legs, neck hurts to the point where I’d rather sleep on the hardwood floor. We probably (DEFINITELY) should have called it quits a long time ago. Someone tell me why we waited so long?!?!

Final Thoughts: This mattress is like a crappy boyfriend. You know you should have broken up with him a long time ago and can’t figure out why you stuck around. Don’t waste your time on this. For those that might not think this is a big deal, it is when you purchased them with plans to WASH THE FILTER WEEKLY. There isn't even a part number to order replacement filters... I HOPE(?) vacuuming them weekly will work, I guess, but I fully regret not opening these the day they arrived so that I could have returned them immediately and found a product with a washable, permanent filter.

I am totally pissed off at the misleading advertising of a permanent filter, my birds would easily have these clogged in 2 weeks with just their dander, and even I am more pissed at myself for not returning these the moment they arrived.

I figure other customers would appreciate knowing the truth about the "permanent" filters. | B00EIDFSE8 | B0BL3D3829 | AHVYM3NOEGKCIEGVM7NJ47RLF7QQ | 1527142425097 | 1725 | True | 181 | 3 |
| 1 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Kindle_Store.parquet | Kindle_Store | 1.0 | Too unrealistic to enjoy | I was very disappointed in this book after reading all the hype about it. While the reading is good, the story is so nonsensical- a 6 year old left alone in a shack raises herself, living in the same shack, using the same boat, and no one lifts a hand to help her? In more than 20 years, the boat never breaks down, the house doesn't need repairs and she's able to wear the same clothes for many years....she's got long hair that she says is ratty and tangled but description s of it has it down her back, luxurious...she's gorgeous but bathing is optional until in her 20s...she has sex with a philanderer but never gets a vd and not once apparently does she get sick. No flu, cold, nothing....she never got shots and apparently has the immune system of a super hero because she stepped on a nail and never got tetanus....I kept reading so I'd finish and the ending is unexpected but it's generally a boring book where day after day, she's alone in the marsh.... | B078GD3DRG | B078GD3DRG | AGNE4WKJOYXXNI5537PTUTZMWN3A | 1540781907382 | 6470 | True | 179 | 3 |
| 1 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Unknown.parquet | Unknown | 1.0 | Coins disappear and in game purchases not showing up | At first coins were great. They're cheaper than paying for the in game apps via iTunes. I even bought a low end kindle fire just to be able to purchase the coins easier. However, the kindle does not play well with this game (Game of War: Fire Age) and several times while I was attempting to make an in game purchase with coins, the coins got deducted, but the items I purchased never appeared. The last time I purchased 10,000 coins, I only was able to get 1,999 coins worth. I lost two other purchase of 3,999 and 1,999 coins each. Amazon refused to credit me back the coins and the developer refused to credit me the items. Amazon said I'd gotten too many credits. I know I'm not the only one that has had this problem. I don't submit fraudulent claims. I've attempted three times to contact Amazon and have received no reply back. So, be very careful when you use coins for purchases and know you may lose your money in the process and have nothing to show for it and no support from Amazon or the game developer. I won't be purchasing coins any more. And as a long time Amazon customer, I'm extremely disappointed in the lack of customer service here. | B0096E8DSM | B0096E8DSM | AGFIP53O2TBNZUURNHIXMZOF55YQ | 1470089257000 | 1172 | True | 215 | 3 |

| 1 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Electronics.parquet | Electronics | 1.0 | Buyer beware | Okay everyone, be very careful with this one. When we went through the installation instructions everything seemed to be going well up to a point where a sign in screen appears with your log in name and password (you created in an earlier step). The problem starts here...after trying to log in the process becomes circular and won't connect, even after several attempts. This is where it gets dicey. We contacted their on-line chat service, explained the problem and a service tech called to "help". The gist: after going through a few different windows on my computer and installing software to remote into my computer the tech announces you have a trojan virus and to remove it the cost will be $89.00 an hour or up to $600.00 and of course I can't use my computer for the next two hours because my financial information is at risk and other people now have control of my home network. Well...we have BitDefender installed so I had to question this, after talking with the folks at BitDefender with their tech investigating my system, they told me they have received similar calls with unscrupulous "tech's" trying to sell you a service you really don't need. Btw: we never got the extender to work and it will be going back to Amazon as soon as my hot little hands can box it up...sometimes if the deal looks too good, you really need to question why. | B00L0YLRUW | B00L0YLRUW | AEE4TEM5MMOXJM35C3QOUZJBCAOQ | 1537717566753 | 1821 | True | 241 | 4 |
| 1 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Electronics.parquet | Electronics | 1.0 | I will be returning | I am a long time user of Echo and eagerly awaited the successors. The Echo Plus is no such thing.

Please note that many high star reviews are first time echo owners and they don't have the original good unit to compare too. If you are too and reading this, buy the original Echo for around 80$ (not the second gen). If you are a previous echo owner, don't "upgrade".

First and foremost, the sound. Despite being touted as having updated speakers and Dolby, it sounds much worse. Volume does not get as high, bass is always too low, and just sounds muffled. If you have a Dot, then it is comparable to sound quality but just louder. My wife asked what was wrong with it (she didn't know it was the Plus). That was one of the main reasons I got the new Echo, an upgrade to the sound.

The speech recognition is about the same. Maybe bit better but I think that's because this Echo does not get as loud and not as much bass interference as the old one.

Connecting smart devices is about as painful as before, just in a new way. It does basic commands and for basic devices. Very limited. You are better off with a hidden, more powerful hub.

Other than that, it looks almost exactly the same as old Echo, and does same things. Connecting my phone via bluetooth was useless. The new power plug in port is not hidden like the original and cord comes out easily.

Overall, I am going to return it. 150$ for a downgrade. It's a shame. | B015S1SWLO | B07458MP46 | AELJYG72EKW7XBUP2Z6HTWVQPM4A | 1509671692777 | 1253 | True | 276 | 4 |

It was then sent out to my friends that had a Amazon device, there friends and family and god knows where else, apparently it had used my contacts to send that voice message to my friends, family and everyone in my contacts, it also somehow sent the voice message to my friends contacts and there contacts and so on n so on. I turned off my Amazon Dot that day after several of my friends called me to ask "What's going on, at 7:00am or so I was woken up by a long babbling message from you, one friend said his sister got it to, idk his sister. Be careful ppl, I've since gone into my Amazon account/Devices/Recordings and found hundreds if not thousands of voice commands, messages etc etc, I deleted them all and deregistered my several devices that I no longer own, I didnt know they stay connected until you remove them and all the data retrieved by them. | 1 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Electronics.parquet | Electronics | 1.0 | Disturbing Privacy Policy and App behanviour along with a threat. | Normally I don't like to write negative reviews, but given what I saw and read about this product's companion app, it seemed that I should let others know. The App forces you to allow a "VPN" connection which basically allows your phone to talk to the recorder and "VPN" to the company using your phones data connection. I was wondering why this and "Location" on your phone were mandatory for the app to run just to get videos off from the device I paid for. It turns out that if you read the privacy policy, this app not only grabs identifying information from your phone (like the IEMI, etc) but wants to see the amount/what youre doing with your own device. Telemetry is one thing, but forced data grabbing is another. The more the app was stopped and started, the more permissions it required in order to run. For instance, the first time it runs, it pushes you to allow the VPN. Allowed it, then ran again. When running again, it wouldn't allow the software to run with out granting it location permission. But I don't want to do that. Doesn't matter, app won't run with out location access. Just for connecting to my unit to get MY videos on MY device?? Finally, the privacy policy delivers a subtle threat saying "Well, if you don't give us all the data we want, then you can't use any of the advanced functions". While a lot of people may not care about this, the practice of forced data grabbing is becoming more prevalent and it would be nice if a well respected company like Anker (Who was one of the few companies I could actually trust up until now) would respect the users. | B07DF8MQX1 | B07DF8MQX1 | AHMX6R2TREGY5ZLIAVRXNC6OWCEQ | 1539550035139 | 1190 | False | 291 | 4 |
| 1 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Health_and_Household.parquet | Health_and_Household | 1.0 | Scary side effects. | This is a completely honest review: I took this product for 2 months and it really helped my memory recall and curved my forgetfulness. It was wonderful and I loved it! After the 2 months I was out of product for about a week and the side effects were awful! I could not stay focused, 3 times as bad as before I took it. I also had concentration blackouts where I would be driving and all of a sudden it's like I just woke up and was totally lost and had no idea where I was. It happened 3 times in one day. One of those instances I had driven 30 min past my exit before I "woke up". I also had strange bouts of dyslexia type symptoms. I have never in my entire life had either of these happen before. It scared me enough to stay away from this product. Its been 5 months since and those side effects are now gone. I'm sad that happened because I loved the results I had while on the product. Has anyone else had these experiences? In researching I found out the ingredient apoaequorin that they use is actually a synthetic the company manufactures which makes it a drug, it is not the natural product they could get from the jellyfish.

If I had serious dementia problems and had no other choice I would probably risk it but I'm only 45 and still have a lot of life ahead of me. Since I am not sure if after years of using this product any of those side effects would not last it's a risk I'm not willing to take. | B0027Z4XF4 | B0027Z4XF4 | AFY5GNCE7JVNR5MZUJC4RNZGWTHQ | 1454215655000 | 1101 | False | 278 | 4 |

It looked and felt like a solid product. Love the little light on it. I wasn’t planning on using it to do heavy lifting, just needed something for a daily clean up of dog hair. It couldn’t even handle that. It’d pick up a little and then the rest of the time it just pushed it all around. At one point the unit even clogged after not much time. I wanted to love this, but it can’t handle even the lightest of messes so I had to return it.

Update 1/14/22
The company has written me more times than I care to go back and count offering apologies which at first seemed nice, but now borders on harassment. They keep asking what option I want- a refund or a replacement. I have been adamant about a refund from the start. They have begged me to change my reviews. They ignore my requests for a simple refund and to stop being harassed. Don’t even bother with this company- the product doesn’t work and they will never leave you alone.

Update- later in the day 1/14/22
Yet another email—- this time with the wrong name telling me to remove my review first in order to get a refund. | 1 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Home_and_Kitchen.parquet | Home_and_Kitchen | 1.0 | Buyer Beware! Only lasted 9 months | When we purchased this mattress in August of last year, we loved it! Now that we have been sleeping on it for 9 months, our thoughts have changed. I have been waking up with back pains for about 3 weeks. I did not say anything to my husband thinking that perhaps I needed to do some stretching. To my surprise, the hubby also complained that his back has been hurting upon waking for about 3 weeks as well. These are the pains we experienced when we realized it was time to change our last conventional mattress that lasted us nearly 10 years. Upon inspection, the Tuft & Needle mattress has no lumps or divots so there does not appear to be a manufacturer flaw to the naked eye. Things I did love about the mattress are the convenient packing and shipping, the price, and that there were no smells after unpacking. It was very comfortable for the first 8 months, but now I think that I will need to purchase a conventional mattress that will last for a few years instead of a few months. Please take note that all of the excellent reviews were within the first few months of owning.

Update: I called Tuft and Needle directly (5/30/2018) and spoke with Gerilynn (not sure of spelling) and was told that there was nothing they could do for me at this point. Looks like I wasted very good money on a very bad mattress. Before purchasing, please be sure to look at reviews from those who have owned the mattress for 6 months or more. | B00QBZ265U | B0B4BB1R6L | AEHQ65HOLDFDCRO6XVQNCIGBXCFA | 1527537302455 | 2471 | True | 267 | 4 |

I had dreams of restful sleep and less back pain. I got the package from Amazon and I was so excited. I didn't even wait for my husband to come home, I moved our old heavy mattress (memory foam) and lifted this new heavy mattress onto our bed and set to work.

The bed is comfortable to lay on. It's got a good amount of softness for just hanging out in. However, that's about it. It's just another mattress and it doesn't do anything the commercials claim. I still wake up with back pain. My husband still wakes up with pain. I have noticed no real difference in my sleep patterns on this bed than on any bed before it. I was sorely disappointed.

Maybe it works for some people, but two adults on this bed of different sizes and sleep types and neither of us found any benefit.

Now for the fun part. Purple offers 100 night trial, right?

Not if you buy this off of Amazon. They follow Amazon's return policy. Normally Amazon return policy is great but where exactly am I going to attach a sticker to this thing and drop it off at my local UPS? Yeah.

So I spent $1000 on a bed that is no better than a $500 bed. Buyer be warned, do NOT purchase this from Amazon. This has been the hardest and most difficult book I have ever read. I think the author made a big mistake by graphically describing almost every horrific event in this family's history. I kept thinking ''Is this book ever going to end".
Surely someone must have reported or seen this house of horrors. It is very hard to believe the school or other kids in the school might not have mentioned to an adult that something looked off with these terrorized children. And where were these "united sisters" when they asked the younger sister to "tough it out for another four years" before leaving even though they knew their parents were murderes? It becomes difficult to even that believe that all these cruel and perverted events actually happened.
I forced myself to finish this book because I had already invested a lot of time in it and wanted to see the parents finally get their just rewards.
I was very disturbed to see, that in my opinion, justice was not served because both parents are either out of prison or will be shortly instead of the rest of their lives in life in prison without parole.
I feel very sorry for the murder victim's families who will forever have to live with the cruel and merciless deaths imposed on their loved ones and without any satisfaction for retribution.
This is the sickest book I have ever had the misfortune to read
I would never read another book by this author! | B07Q5TL9SQ | B07Q5TL9SQ | AHGNK44MSDDFV42JS2OSQSVRL5EQ | 1574026637504 | 1085 | True | 269 | 4 |

I decided to DNA test my dog, but also to try three different testing services simultaneously to compare the results. I used what looked like the most popular services: Mars Veterinary Wisdom Panel, Embark, and DNA My Dog. Long-story-short, Mars returned the results surprisingly quickly, while DNA My Dog took ridiculously long to get the results (ironic, since the speed of results is one of its marketing points), but hands down Embark took by far the longest to return results. The services were not wholly consistent in their results. They all provided the same primary breed ancestry, but did not agree on the secondary breeds. Both Mars and Embark provided the same breed results. DNA My Dog appeared to provide results more closely aligned with the picture of the dog I uploaded, but different from the other two. Subsequently, I tested another dog with both Mars and DNA My Dog. I did not upload a picture. Mars returned correct results based on what was known about the dog. DNA My Dog provided ridiculously wrong results (large breed results for a 19 pound dog). Embark is superior to Mars in the amount and depth of analysis provided, especially the health analysis. All in all, I’m inclined to favor Mars for faster, lower cost results delivery. However, if time and price are not an issue, then Embark provides the most comprehensive, informative, and interesting results. I do not recommend DNA My Dog. | B01ABMY8UO | B01ABMY8UO | AEYDVDR4TYEILSXDAKVLJCT345SA | 1492561448000 | 1053 | True | 262 | 4 |

People join them by having only one personality trait: brave people join Dauntless where they jump off trains and punch each other. Smart people join Erudite where they wear glasses. Amish people join Abnegation where they don't eat hamburgers. And the other two are both Hufflepuff.

In the EXTREMELY RARE situation where somebody has two personality traits ("I have glasses AND don't eat hamburgers!" -or- "I play baseball AND football") they are "divergent" (a Latin word meaning "too cool for school").

"But wait," you say. "How do they figure out which frat to join?" I'm glad you asked. Pledge week in Dystopian Chicago consists of a hallucination where you have to choose between a knife and cheese with no other instructions. Then a dog attacks you. If you choose the knife, you are Dauntless. If you choose the cheese, you're not. Isn't that cool? That's all it takes. You either want a knife or you want cheese, and that decision confines you to a single Death Frat for the rest of your life. That's their NEARLY FOOLPROOF system. Knife or cheese. Maybe I'm not Divergent, I'm just lactose intolerant!

Eventually the smart people use the brave people to kill the Amish people and only a teenage girl with two different interests can save them all. With her boyfriend. And something about a hard drive that controls humanity (presumably connecting via USB 27.0).

Anyway, it doesn't make much sense but expect a million more books about dystopian futures where kids kill each other, because Hunger Games sold faster than a grey tunic in an Abnegation camp. | 0062024035 | 0062024035 | AEKBQ5FBZLZMCKQ47BOZK53I4OQA | 1381370994000 | 2693 | False | 319 | 5 |
| 1 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Electronics.parquet | Electronics | 1.0 | Here's a quick recap of why this device is terrible: 1- the HDMI cable is stupid short | It really kills me to write this, but Amazon really dropped the ball big time with this one. My problems with this device are all hardware and design based. I had no issues with set up or software, as I've read some others have had.

Here's a quick recap of why this device is terrible:
1- the HDMI cable is stupid short. It literally dangles off your tv if you use a side HDMI port, like I do. It looks bad and just feels bad. Plus, in my case, the power outlet was on the other side of the room. No problem with my previous FireTV but because the HDMI cable is so short... dig out those extension cords. Just messy.

2- No SD card port. Makes it VERY limited on space for apps, etc. STUPID move, Amazon.

3- WiFi ONLY unless you pay for an extra adapter for $15. Sorry, but I'm not paying more money to add something that never should have been removed in the first place. Because this edition is WiFi only, the picture is awful. I mean, awful. Think VHS compared to Blu Ray. I have a good WiFi network, fast speed, and 4k looked atrocious. I hooked up my previous FireTV and was amazed at how much better the quality was. I'm not sure if its a WiFi thing or not, but for things like streaming and gaming, I prefer hardwired connections to get better, more stable speeds. And again, I'm not paying extra $ to find out if this device will perform better hardwired or not. I already had the design and tiny HDMI cable.

I got this device thinking the picture quality might be better than the previous edition, which has a great picture on my 4K TV. I was so, so wrong. Unfortunately, I WILL be returning this device and sticking with the previous edition which specs aside is far superior in nearly every factor. | B01N32NCPM | B075JZNHTD | AE6W2BJLZUZ32SCA44FRFCBIQQZQ | 1509220951007 | 3445 | True | 328 | 5 |
| 1 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Electronics.parquet | Electronics | 1.0 | Do not buy this product! | I purchased my Orbi system 4 months ago. The setup was easy and my system was up and running in minutes. It worked like a charm between January and the end of May 2017. Then, all of a sudden, the Orbi began disconnecting from the Internet (it showed the "magenta ring of death" at the top of the device) and there was no way to recover from this issue. Nothing has worked, despite multiple attempts and workarounds, including factory-resetting the device (twice), changing ports, changing internet cables, etc. When I factory-reset it, it worked fine for about 3 hours, but then it went back to the same issue. It wasn't able to connect to the Internet (The Verizon router never stopped working). As several reviewers have already mentioned, this issue seems to be firmware-related, but Netgear hasn't had the decency of notifying its customers about this problem or how to resolve it. Why do they make us register the product if they can't at least give us a heads up about known problems with their product?

However, that is not even the worst part. The biggest problem is NETGEAR's crummy technical support and return policies. Here's what you will be dealing with if your Orbi fails after 90 days. This from their website:

1. You must submit a valid claim to NETGEAR with an assigned RMA number (that you obtain by contacting technical support). HOWEVER,
2. With your Orbi purchase, you only get 90 day free basic phone support. You must pay for technical support if the problem occurs after 90 days of your new purchase, and
3. You must pay for the shipping costs for returning the defective product to NETGEAR

So there you have it. A promising product with terrible technical support and warranty policies. Buy at your own risk. | B01K4CZOBS | B0BT1BTW94 | AFFAUH3OIKCGYOKGIIDT2CDZK2XA | 1496716804000 | 2661 | True | 305 | 5 |
| 1 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Electronics.parquet | Electronics | 1.0 | An Essential Component that still doesn't exist. | I was very skeptical of the naysayers, claiming better performance on WIFI than on this ethernet adapter. While the theoretical speeds of AC are faster that 100Mbps, the realities frequently result in any wired connection being more consistent and stable than a wireless connection.

Except this one.

Hoping to enjoy an evening of streaming content without buffering I excitedly connected this adapter to my firestick and then my ethernet cable to the adapter. Setup was certainly easier than WIFI as none was required. I queued up a video from my file share and pressed play. Almost immediately the video buffered. Not looking so great. I waited for the first buffer to load and hoped it would be the last but soon the video became unwatchable. Disheartened I disconnected the adapter. The Firestick immedaiately went to my 5GHz WIFI and starting the video again it began to play, much more smoothly than with the wired adapter. However, it again began to buffer. I forced it to connect to my 2.4GHz WIFI and after the buffer loaded once, the video played without issue.

Even with a very questionable WIFI setup that has issues with buffering, the impetus for purchasing this device, the playback was better using WIFI than with the wired network adapter. The verdict, this adapter is an absolute fail and will be of no benefit to anyone, in every scenario, save the complete non-existence of a wireless network, the user will be better off without this device. Even in that case the money would be better spent on a WIFI access point.

Very sad, and quite perturbed that it is only 10/100, but the performance is far worse than that, a 100mbps. The video I was attempting to watch has an average bit rate of 12mbps w/ occasional peaks at 18mbps. If Amazon cannot produce a wired adapter capable of better than 18mbps, then they should not produce one at all. | B074TC662N | B074TC662N | AH7KUHFPD2SO4PZCNXVSY3XRLTFQ | 1536094434417 | 1270 | True | 325 | 5 |

Erythritol is a sugar alcohol derived from corn, often GMO corn.

I purchased this in my attempt to sweeten beverages without the downside of sugar alcohols. Unfortunately, there is no avoiding sugar alcohols if you consume this “monk fruit.”

I am giving this product one star on the basis of labeling and disclosure. Initially, I did not experience a problem with this product, but as time passed, a problem evolved.

For example, some reviewers, including myself, use this as a sugar substitute in their coffee. Coffee in and of itself can promote a peristaltic action. Add this to your coffee and the brew is more likely to cause GI distress.

Sugar alcohols are largely undigested. The consumed sugar alcohol remains in the large intestine where it ferments. Also, the undigested compound pull water into the bowel which gives rise to diahhrea. Those with metabolic disorders (diabetes) or autoimmune disease are further disrupting their gut health. This product, over time, can irritate the lining of the gut in susceptible users. Ask yourself, how can a food or food substitute that promotes diahhrea be a good outcome? The loss of electrolytes on a daily basis is clearly not a good thing.

It should be noted my gastric response was triggered by only one teaspoon per day. As time passed I grew increasingly sensitized to this product.

As an alternative, I will try pure date sugar. Date sugar has a lower glycemic index than table sugar and a small degree of nutritional value. It is difficult for diabetics to find palatable and healthful sugar substitutes. Unclear labeling only makes this challenge more daunting. | B073K24V8B | B09KC69RSH | AEXB6IRQZAC5VWG7TOFFQLRHCH4Q | 1537916973498 | 1830 | True | 312 | 5 |

I noticed the problem with the blower because the plastic covering the front was starting to MELT, and I could smell it.
5. When I called Lasko (because it has a stated 3 year warranty), they refused to honor the warranty.

WARRANTY:
Apparently, the fact that the blower stopped working was under the warranty. (And, they claim would have initiated replacement.) But, when the heat caused it to start melting, it was no longer covered under the warranty. This is under the "claims" department. That requires that you ship it back, wait for a 2-3 week investigation. Then, they will determine whether they will be responsible.

While on the phone, the LASKO customer service representative tried to blame shift, by asking me how I cleaned it and how often. I informed her I vacuumed it weekly and wiped it down with a baby wipe. She then instructed me that the Owners Manual requires it be cleaned weekly, and that a baby wipe violated the instruction to use a "dry cloth." I read her the portion of the Owners Manual, and it made no mention of a dry cloth, just a "soft cloth" without alcohol or solvent. Again, she insisted they would need to investigate any damage I could have done to the unit (WITH A BABY WIPE?!!).

Amazon customer service stepped in to help me. Making my dogs food was so easy! I put in the food and the water, pressed pressure cook and like magic it was just done when it beeped. Getting used to the pressurization wasn't hard at all. It wasn't really difficult to use.

Until last week... My pot just didn't turn on! I tried other outlets and other electronics so it was not the outlet. I moved the pot to a different outlet, nothing. It was the pot. The manual gave explicit troubleshooting directions based on what is wrong. Not turning on meant that the circuit board blew and it advised to call support, which I did. When you call, an automated message tells you to go online and put in a ticket- because this is clearly a company that doesn't want to be bothered 'talking' to their customers. So I do this. A day later no response! So I email again asking for help. This time I email them the same information. Didn't hear from them until Friday! I needed my pot fixed on Tuesday.... On Thursday though I had had enough and called Amazon who thankfully knows how to treat customers and were able to refund me the product and I shipped it back to them. The pot was less than a year of purchase and within warranty after all! Even Amazon tried getting ahold of the company and they couldn't get a response!

Beware of this brand! Weak fan. | I personally suffer from severe allergies and get great relief when I have good air purifiers in the locations I live (3 of them) and in my offices (2 of them). Given that there are so many locations, I have taken the time to explore Amazon recommended air purifiers. Starting with the old school Honeywell units (top rating from Consumer Reports) to the ones rated highly here. I have the Winix units, the honeywell units as well as the upright Germ Guardian and Therapure units. So here is my summary.

As CS says, most HEPA filters really only work if you have the units on the highest speed settings. This is totally true if you really suffer from allergens. If it's not on the highest setting, the particles are not going to make it into the filter. That being said, this unit has a very weak fan and does not move much air at all. It's quiet and built well I will give it that. But it is by far the weakest of all of the air purifiers I have. So I think people should know that this is meant for a SMALL room. Like bathroom or a very small bedroom at best. It does a good job, but anything bigger than 10X10 room and this thing it totally overmatched.

Pros: Quiet, good construction, easy to remove filter
Cons: Weak fan, hardly covers a small room.

UPDATED: The fact that Amazon has make this filter an "Amazon Choice" is pathetic. Since purchasing 2 of these 5 months ago I have also gotten the new style Honeywell units (look more like this and less like a big cylinder) and I love them. Sick book about sick people, protected by more sick, irresponsible people. | I had no idea that this book would go into such morbid detail. Nor can I understand who this book was directed at? I read less than one quarter of it, trying to see where it was leading, but it just rambled on and on including every horrible act that any person could ever do to another human being. Adults who saw what was happening but chose to do nothing and were then surprised when more terrible things happened? Right! (I.e., A teenager just for the attention, falsely accuses her father of raping her. And then the father, when proven innocent, and who was supposedly devastated, just drops the whole episode and continues to think of her and treat her as his "special little princess" - even as he watches her grow older and lie about and physically abuse others, including (and especially) her own children. She goes through three "shy, caring and once wonderful" (!) husbands who end up being afraid of her too, and they also watch her brutally torture, and actually end up helping her abuse their children. And then there's the mother of this insane women, who witnessed all this but just wasn't sure exactly what to do to stop everything! It's crazy!) I believe the author - that the story is actually true. I believe that there are ignorant irresponsible insane people in the world. But I do not need to read page after page of details of those who allow insane people to destroy the lives of innocent children year after year. It's those who stand by and allow this kind of torture to continue that are the real criminally insane in my opinion. For what it's worth, the writing/grammar in the book itself was way below par. But maybe it's to be expected from the level of education of someone who would hope to make a profit from this kind of "entertainment." Don't waste your time or money. I regret that this book exists for those who are already sick and might be searching for this kind of brutal imagery. | B07Q5TL9SQ | B07Q5TL9SQ | AGMELBYDWRNGCGSMRSP5JB4K46KQ | 1573074133771 | 3419 | True | 347 | 5 |

The unboxing experience is uneventful, however a warning here: You do need a smartphone or tablet to be setup with Alexa or this will not work. That is nowhere mentioned in the advertisement. The Alexa software is by far one of the worst I have seen in years. There is no real menu, you have to scroll through pages and pages of stuff, cluttered with things that are not helpful and confusing. Pictures and advertisement do not belong in a menu. The structure again, horrific.
Neither on the Alexa app or on the device itself is a home screen where you see all your apps.
It’s a cluster of menus, very hard to navigate.
Now, to our device. The first thing I turned off was motion. The screen does a lousy job following you and always seems to be angled off. Even when you turn motion off, every time you hit the screen to use a menu, the screen will bounce around and you need two hands. One to hold the screen and one to use the menu. His notion that the Jefferson Bible was some attempt to simplify the Bible for the Indians is a joke. One can draw on Jefferson's own letters to see he had a hard time coming to terms with the Bible, preferring to cull from it what he considered relevant to a discussion on ethics.

"The whole history of these books [the Gospels] is so defective and doubtful that it seems vain to attempt minute enquiry into it: and such tricks have been played with their text, and with the texts of other books relating to them, that we have a right, from that cause, to entertain much doubt what parts of them are genuine. In the New Testament there is internal evidence that parts of it have proceeded from an extraordinary man; and that other parts are of the fabric of very inferior minds. It is as easy to separate those parts, as to pick out diamonds from dunghills." -- Thomas Jefferson, letter to John Adams, January 24, 1814

Jefferson was a classicist, with a huge library at Monticello devoted to his studies. He had little interest in converting the "natives." He was more concerned with elevating the intellectual life of America, which is why he established the University of Virginia. Mr. Barton would like us to believe in "Lie #2" that Jefferson did not intend this to be a secular school, but rather faith-based, which better suits Barton's own religious temperament. He discards all the classical references which abound in any conventional telling of the founding of the university, choosing instead to focus exclusively on religious aspects. You would think you were reading about Jerry Falwell's Liberty University.

We all know that Barton has an agenda, which includes reshaping the founding fathers in his evangelical religious view of the world. Even better than a 4 stroke, the Dewalt flexvolt string trimmer requires neither oil nor gas.

There’s no idling engine, the Dewalt flexvolt trimmer only makes noise when you’re using it and it makes less running noise than gas models. | 2 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Books.parquet | Books | 2.0 | Highly disappointed. | As a teacher and mother to an almost 5 year old, I was very excited when I saw that there was a phonics set for the Pete the Cat series. My son loves those books! However, once I opened the book and started reading them, I was sorely disappointed. There is no possible way that these can be used for their intended purpose of teaching a child to read. They are aligned with their "phonics" listed on the books, however the word choice is very poor. Rather than simple CVC sight words to help a child learn to read, or even the simple words and phrases used in the regular Pete the Cat books, these book use much higher level sight words and vocabulary. For example, book 1 focuses on the short a sound. Most "learn to read books" use words such as cat, hat, fan, had, bag, and so on. Not this book. The short a words included are: at, cat, bad, fan, oranges, sandwiches, banana, happy, breakfast, last, and that. The short e book (book 2), uses the words bed, bedtime, best, end, everyone, except, fed, friend, gets, instead. So not only are they not appropriate for beginning readers, they are not accurate examples of the short vowel sounds. Short i, uses the word third as a short i example. Third does not make a short i sound. The i in this word is an r-controlled vowel and makes the sound /er/ like in bird and herd. These are just a few of the issues with these books. They do have cute stories and my children enjoy them as short bedtime stories, so if you child(ren) enjoy(s) the Pete the Cat series, then this is a good purchase. Just don't expect them to be very helpful with learning vowel sounds accurately or helping to learn to read. | 0062404520 | 0062404520 | AHC4UCZW2OH5T7OIOW3IDLZ6I6HQ | 1494456825000 | 1240 | True | 309 | 5 |
| 2 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Books.parquet | Books | 2.0 | Sigh. | Let me start by saying this, I love harry potter. I read the books 2-3 times per year since I was a child. I've grown up with these books. These books are a part of me, I've named my children after characters in these books. I have 3 tattoos, all of which are harry potter. I'm a dedicated fan, entirely obsessed to be candid. I have waited for this book like the rest of you.

I can handle the fact that it's written as a play, I was expecting this. I was fully prepared to accept this. I waited all night for this to be released to my kindle (it's 3 a.m and I've just finished). I sped through the cursed child and my final thought was, this was disappointing .

I'm skeptical of how much jk rowling actually contributed to this. I get more of a harry potter vibe from the fantastic beasts trailer than this entire book. The plot was bad, almost everything was bad. It was like a poorly written fanfic.

It sucks that I'm saying this because harry potter is a part of soul. I went into this thinking it was everything I'd ever hoped for.

I'm not saying don't buy the book, by all means buy it. Read it. See for yourself. I'm not being cynical, rowling is the queen of my world. This is the first and likely only bad review I will give regarding her.

Just be warned, this does not feel like harry potter. This was not intricate, well excuted, thought out, or clever. The characters were not true to themselves. I think the best way to go into reading this and saving yourself from despair is to read it as a fanfic and not the true works of rowling. It would be tolerable had her name not been involved, I expected so much more.

And now I will try to purge this book from my memory and continue to live in her past works of art. I still have big hopes for fantastic beasts and that's enough for now. | 1338099132 | 1338099132 | AHVLHPGLQF2AAITLPDGVIBLSS3KA | 1469952332000 | 5623 | True | 354 | 5 |

It not only wakes you up by slowly ramping up the brightness while changing colors, it does a cool sunset as well. I love that.

It's downhill from there.

First, this is a clock radio. So for some reason they made it round. I don't know about you, but when I'm first waking up, being careful not to knock over the round, unstable, clock isn't exactly the easiest thing. It *will* fall over if you use it.

It has a mixture of buttons around the edges and a touch screen on the front. The buttons are absurd. Try finding a specific button with a bright light blasting in your eyes. Eyes that have just woken up. Yeah.

It has two alarms. Great. But it doesn't know what day of the week it is, so you have to manually set them when the weekend comes around. And don't forget to switch back come Monday!

I have a 7 year-old clock radio that not only does this better, it even knows when to switch to DST.

Which leads to the real "what on earth were they thinking?!?" moment:
If the power goes out, there's no battery backup.

This is 2017, guys. A gimmick does not make a good alarm clock by itself. First, it needs to have the basics covered. Usability is paramount!

I would recommend turning this into a cube with physical buttons on top that are easy to find, even with your eyes closed. Automatic time setting. Automatic knowledge of the day of the week and when DST begins and ends. This is the bare minimum for the $100+ range. My alarm clock that I bought from Target in 2009 has these, and it was about $50.

I'm returning this before I knock it off the night stand. | 2 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Kindle_Store.parquet | Kindle_Store | 2.0 | Boring, repetitive and monotone | I know everyone is harping on the ending, but that isn't even the problem in this novel. I don't expect much YA novels to be Hemingway, or Rowling even, but reading Roth's monotonous and continuously stilted, short sentences for the duration of this story made me long for some artistic flare. A bit of purple prose, even.

My main problem is that Roth, for having decided to alternate POVs to both Tris and Tobias, has created no discernible tonal differences between the two. Neither develop a distinct personality and that leads to a boring read. If each chapter title did not state whether it was in Tris or Tobias' view, then I would not have been able to tell who was the narrator, aside from situationally figuring it out. Both viewpoints really do read that similarly.

Again, the very minimal diction (not to be confused with the bare style of The Road, an artistic masterpiece in simplicity) also leads to little passion. For all the kissing that Tobias and Tris do (a lot), there's little romance and tension. Unfortunately, this style also renders the rest of the novel, including all those action scenes, as repetitive and somewhat boring.

Finally, about that ending. I give a lot of leeway to authors. They can do whatever they want, even if it devastates me, as long as it serves a purpose. In this case, I don't see how the ending served the story for the better except for "shock-value," mainly because the end is filled with too many plot holes. Plus, by the time I even reached the end, I was already bored to apathy.

And just to be clear, my low-ish rating of this novel was not affected by the ending. I found the rest of the novel to be far more problematic. | B00BD99JMW | B00BD99JMW | AF74YLTDZIJM3DGNP2UBCI2AQDTA | 1382491593000 | 1218 | True | 305 | 5 |

I was hoping to have one in the kitchen and have it play my audio books while i clean/cook, but its still difficult to hear ti clearly over the kitchen activity. No such problem with the google home mini. Also a downside, they changed the charge port to an old fashioned pin style instead of the micro USB. This limits the places I can use it I have a small powered hub in the living room I connect my devices too and I was going to get another one of these for that, but I won't now since I can't connect it easily where I want to. I also used to bring one onto the back patio and have it powered by my Anker usb battery, but I can't do that with this one anymore. Not sure why they suddenly abandoned the micro usb style. | 2 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Books.parquet | Books | 2.0 | They Took All the Fun Out - Where's the Commentary? | I am a long-time Harry Potter fan. As such, I owned all of these books from the day of their original releases, and remember them well. Unfortunately, the newest released set from today (March 14, 2017), which I bought to replace the copies I ultimately lost in a house fire, are a fundamentally different product. To be fair, "The Tales of Beedle the Bard" and "Quidditch Through the Ages" are both fine. They're newly printed in a nice matching hardcover style that suits the boxed set well and really makes them feel a bit like textbooks at the same time. I don't like the cover art on the Beedle book as much as the original, and I seem to remember (but may be mistaken) some of the pictures being bigger in the original, but these aren't deal breakers. The content for both of these volumes appears to have remained fundamentally intact through to the new publication design.

The real problem rests with the new release of the "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" book. Many people reading this review (and indeed, there are even pictures posted from previous releases showing it) may remember that the original release was presented as a copy of the textbook as owned by Harry Potter. As such, it contained a lot of doodles and "handwritten" notes from Harry and his friends throughout the book, integrating a lot of humor and personality into the textbook content about the various creatures. Unfortunately though, those notes are, in the new version, removed. There are one or two "notes" from the "editor" in the new foreword to the book, but that's it. I know that it probably costs more to have so much varying formatting and everything, but it's not like they couldn't recoup the costs. As it stands though, this new clean version essentially feels like a partial text. The core content is there, but the personality, humor, and fun that made the original so much better is all gone. | 2 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Books.parquet | Books | 2.0 | The Gillian Flynn comparisons are utterly accurate. | This was a premise to which I couldn't say no. From the window of her train, troubled, alcoholic commuter Rachel Watson watches the world --including a couple who are frequently out on their terrace at the very point her train stops every day. She names them Jason and Jess and decides their lives are the perfect happy-ever-after that hers has never been. But then Jess, whose name is really Megan, goes missing; and Rachel's memory of the night Megan disappeared is a yawning black hole. Did she see something? Can she help these strangers who continually draw her into their lives? I expected a taut psychological exploration driven by the mystery, but Hitchcock this isn't. None of the characterizations ring true, and the plot is created by withholding information the characters would naturally be thinking about (other than Rachel, who can't think about the plot due to alcohol-induced blackouts).

I didn't find a single one of these characters to be genuine in their humanity. They're not merely unlikable; their un-likability is forced and exaggerated. Rachel's convenient blackouts happen so frequently as to become tedious. Even sober, she constantly makes atrocious decisions, all the while acknowledging to herself variations on "I'm stupid" and "I shouldn't be doing this." She has no common sense, no boundaries, no willpower, no emotional fortitude whatsoever. The other first-person narrators are no more believable: Anna, who is married to Rachel's ex-husband Tom and seems to be a mash-up of sociopath and nurturer (what?); and Megan, about whom I really can't say anything without spoiling the mystery.

The problem is, Megan's point of view conceals key things about herself as well, to the degree that the reader doesn't even know about the concealing until the climax (at which point there's no "aha," only frustration). In addition, the voices of these women are interchangeable and the climax includes the villain opining about his/her heartlessness using dialogue cliches to disparage the others while… | 1594633665 | 1594633665 | AHFBSOYQMV4ZJHDVKFMBCNIAI6LQ | 1417819980000 | 3119 | False | 396 | 6 |

I should mention here that this is only a review of the standard stereo tracks - I don't yet have an SACD-capable player.
However this release doesn't make me want to run out and buy one. My worst fears have been realized as once again, the overall mix of the album has been lost in favor of "resolving power", ie the ability to hear little details. The problem is that after applying techniques to bring out such details, the engineers have done nothing to restore the original mix of the album.
The result is like a starving artist's copy of a Rembrandt painting - it sounds something like Dark Side of the Moon, but when you hear the real thing, you realize that it is only a faded imitation.
The problem is that few people these days have access to what it actually sounds like. Almost no one listens to their LP versions, and only a handful of people are lucky enough to own the original UK Harvest CD. Furthermore, it seems clear that the engineers of this 30th Anniversary Edition haven't listened to the original, either.
Interestingly, the original engineer, Alan Parsons, asked to be involved in this 30th Anniversary Edition project, but was shut out. It has a sleek design and great illumination settings. Also, it's the first in its class to offer the "white" lighting as opposed (in my opinion) to the obnoxious blue and red lighting of some of the other light-up keyboards. Another appeal is the laptop-style keys. If you're a fan of the laptop-style keys, and like the "bling" of the lighting effect, this keyboard is a dream come true.

Unfortunately, the hardware designers over at Logitech have built a critical design flaw into this keyboard - one which will render it almost useless for fast types. Logitech has ended up creating "phantom key blocking" on a few series' of commonly used keys. In short, "phantom key blocking" is a hardware control where if 3 keys are pressed at the same time, in some cases the 3rd key will get dropped. Most manufacturers put up this "key blocking" on infrequently used sequences of keys, like "dgf." So, most of the "key blocking" will never be experienced by the user. Logitech, however, has put up "key blocking" on these sequences of keys: "n't" and "ine" -- this means that when fast typers type words like: don't, won't, can't, etc, the "t" will get dropped from the output, because the "n" and apostrophe will "block" the letter "t." Also if you type words like: fine, dine, wine, etc, the "e" will get dropped. Please see my video review for a lengthy explanation of this phenomenon, and just how it is impossible for fast typers to type certain words with the Logitech illuminated keyboard.

So, I can't recommend this keyboard to anyone who's a fast typer, because I consider it highly frustrating to go and retype common words just because the hardware behind the keyboard was poorly desinged. Hopefully Logitech will correct this issue, but do note that "key blocking" is hardware related, and cannot be resolved through a driver update.

I hope this review has been helpful. I spoke to a rep ( 1.800.339.9960, Butterfly Photo ,just in case you wondering how to contact a rep) and he said that this is not covered under warranty because it's not from normal wear and tear. I immediately corrected the guy and mentioned that when you have a small piece of plastic attaching a rotating ear-cup to a headband, this is definitely doomed to happened. He stuck to his guns and said this incident is not covered. I gave it one last try and we concluded that I would send a picture and the company will decide if its covered. Sadly, if they cant replace these headphones, I will no longer buy products from this company and nor will they be recommended.

At the end of the day, I love the sound from these headphones but they need to use better materials. My honest answer after using it for 2 weeks. Don't hesitate. I'll list Pro's and Con's and you decided on your own.
Pro's:
1. One coffee maker instead of 2. See, number 4
2. Uses K-cups or use the separate filter for your own. (Very easy to use and clean)
3. Try and start a brew cycle for single serve with no water in the tank, it will let you know. (oops)
4. Yea, it's larger than your average coffee pot....guess what Negative Rocket scientists, it's replacing 2 Pots.
5. Easy to use controls.
6. Cheap enough
Con's
1. I hate a 2 hour hot plate shut off....personal thing, add 1/2 cup water and start again. It's gone before it shuts off again.
2. Ain't got no more
Other comments:
Top fill requires you to move it out if under low cabinets to fill (a great hardship to some, I just slide it forward, fill and slide back).
It's not as fast as a K-machine.....oh, for pete's sake people, it's not a K machine!!!! Keep your old K machine and buy a coffee machine in addition if you can't wait about 2-3 minutes for coffee.
I have to fill it every time for a single cup......more trauma for some. Personally, I like fresh water better than water that's been sitting in a machine or tank till ready to use. If you really want to you can fill it up with it's 8-10oz and leave it, machine knows the difference between pot and single.
Coffee flavor......tastes like coffee, all subjective, if yours is to weak, get a stronger kind, again not Rocket Science.
I can't taste any difference between Regular and Strong, again subjective.
Hey, at the price you can't beat it. Cheaper than a K machine and if unhappy with speed and size go for the $199.00 Silver Cuisiexpensive.
That's about it, other than the longevity test......

****UPDATE****
8 months later I had to buy another coffee pot.
Out of the blue it decides to blow the t… | B06Y2WCHDV | B0BNP654B2 | AEFWJF62BVFX2TCPS5JBWSNYIMUA | 1513457112642 | 3039 | True | 401 | 6 |
| 2 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Home_and_Kitchen.parquet | Home_and_Kitchen | 2.0 | Engineering FLOP!!! | 1st off I will take some blame as I should have read MUCH deeper into the reviews.
1- The vacuum is a top heavy Engineering FLOP. The cat could easily tip this over. Seriously that bad.
2- The plastic elbow that sticks out 3" on the back side is just a breakage waiting to happen. That is the weakest stability/balanced direction also. Another Engineering FLOP.
3- The intake head is so narrow that if you have and couch or coffee table etc... that has a bump out or overhang the mid part of the body hits and the intake doesn't even get tight to the furniture. Yes from the top it looks like the intake head is wider than the body but upon turning upside down and lookin at the roller, The roller is 1.25" from each side. Engineering FLOP.
4- The intake head is at least 2" less wide than a standard vacuum. Total is 9 1/8", So if you have a mid size or bigger work zone you will notice at least a 20% increase in working time as this is at least 20% narrower than a standard vacuum. Not really a flop, just inefficient.
5- All the tools do not attach. Hmm we all know what happens to those couple small items in about a year. The ones that do I can see not staying there once pulled in/off and put back on several times.
To many people that claim this thing has awesome suction and the holding tank has tons of stuff in it that the old vacuum didn't pick up,,, well I'm guessing mostly because there is brand new SHARP bristles on the roller. That would be your Carpet/rug being shaved. Not hard to figure that out. Will see 6 months from now.
Only positive I see so far is price. You can buy 3 of these for the price of some of the fancy Names but will the hassle and down time of when it breaks be worth it.
I'm sorry but how could any Engineer and or CEO/board member be proud of this vacuum???
I will give it a fair shot and update the review as time moves on. | B004Q4DRJW | B004Q4DRJW | AHCDXRP5NY3XNJOIOTBY3LSBOT2A | 1532906033011 | 1015 | True | 370 | 6 |

I read hundreds of reviews on every mattress in the sub $250 range on here. I agonized for two weeks over which was more likely to fail based on the number of people with bad experiences.

I ended up getting this one because I had already tried it out at a friend's place and because it's so cheap. I figure I can buy a topper for it if it's too thin.

But I unpacked it this afternoon, it inflated instantly (before I could get the plastic off really), and it's already at full size after only 7.5 hours. It also barely has a smell to it. Only detectable if you put your face in it, and a t shirt on the bed is enough to cover that up. I'm going to sleep on this tonight and see how it is - will update this soon with impressions.

Oh, it also doesn't seem to be overly firm or soft. I'm a 6' tall 180 pound guy and I can't feel the ground underneath (currently have it on my carpet) while laying on my side. Seems pretty comfortable and the foam rebounds quickly after being pushed in (but I can feel myself sinking in ever so slightly when lying down).

Update 3/25: I did let this air out for a day just to be sure, and I slept on it last night. I didn''t want to get up this morning - the mattress is very comfortable. The memory foam is a little too thin, such that I could feel my shoulder touching the harder foam underneath. But when I got to sleep I didn't notice this at all. However, the foam being thin is totally expected and I plan to buy a high-quality memory foam topper for this to fill it out.

Update 4/25: Aftertrying this out for several weeks it ended up being really disappointing. My back started aching terribly; I have never had back pain before and knew it must be from the mattress. The basefoam on this simply does not provide the support that you need. I ended up getting a full refund on this, so props to Amazon. | B005G5SIRG | B0C5ND3YRY | AHGETM5EU65WOJIUU2FEK2SOAGYA | 1427152058000 | 1225 | True | 376 | 6 |

My purpose for the fridge was to replace the bigger fridge I have in my room to keep my skin care products cool. Well, it turns out, it does NOT do what it’s supposed to do. I placed my skin care products in the fridge before I left home and made sure the setting was on cool. However, when I returned home at night, I smelled something burning (like rubber) in my room and right then I knew that it was the fridge. When I opened the fridge, all my skin care products were very warm. As you may be able to guess, these are not made to be kept in warm temperature... Now, my skin care products approximately worth $200 are all RUINED because of the malfunctioning fridge.

This is very upsetting and what if it caused fire???? Like I mentioned, my entire master bedroom smelled like something was burning from the fridge. I had to open all the windows to ventilate the room as soon as I walked in.

UPDATE:
The seller has reached out to me to address my concerns. They sent me a replacement fridge but this time, fully tested to ensure that the functionalities do work. They also covered for my expenses as I had to repurchase them all (though it didn't cover for all and it was a little annoying to go a few days without my skin care products) but I still thank them for their professionalism and prompt response.

UPDATE 7/2/2020:
As mentioned above, the seller has sent me a replacement last winter but I did not start using it until about last month. Well, it worked fine, except it generates water so I had to put some paper towel at the bottom inside the fridge (no biggie, I can deal with that..), but just last week, I could feel that the temperature inside the fridge has gone up and it was pretty much the room temperature when I checked so I turned it off in case something similar happens again (see my previous review). You get there, you look over a guardrail at the place you thought you’d be able to explore and experience, only to find that you can only look at it from a distance, and then there’s nothing else to do but get back in your car and go home.
That is the emotional equivalent of reading The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue.
I am so very disappointed in this book. I was so stoked about the premise, and I thought it’d be dark and gritty and cool and we’d get a complex plot with a sprinkle of a love story.
But, instead, it was a 300 year slog through the endless emotional cycle of regret and loneliness of a 300 year old girl, her emotionally manipulative demon lover, and her clinically depressed, unbearably boring boyfriend. I could not get through it fast enough.
This entire book feels like a missed opportunity. Instead of going from beginning to end, letting time and consequence shape this character, we skate over the tiny detail of our Addie’s immortality by jumping back and forth along the timeline. And I know Victoria Schwab loooves jumping timelines. It’s her jam, and that’s fine, when it’s done well and with purpose. In this book, they’re literally spoilers, even going as far as using the phrase, “Later, she will learn...” Oh, good, then there’s no point in telling this story? Great. Glad I’m here. The timeline jumps not only ruin any tension in the story due to their poor timing, they serve as a mere acknowledgement of the passing of time, and gives us a rushed, topical rundown of the historical events the character has lived through that, while they shape the entire foundation of the world Addie lives in, don’t seem to affect her at all.
The other problem is Addie. She is a miserable, honestly pretty whiny, weirdly stubborn character from start to finish, and the author really grinds that misery in at every opportunity. You will accidentally stumble down the rabbit hole and not see it coming. I slapped my forehead for my lack of seeing the foreshadowing of things to come.

Those who dislike f bombs will really need a pass on this. Yes, there are some but to me they pale in comparison to some of the frank talk in the book. (and by frank I mean talk that I would never in a million years utter out of my lips in front of anyone-maybe I'm a secret prude) I will not give a spoiler here because the words are probably on a list of things you can't write it a review (wash your mouth out with soap, make your mama blush words). I kept reading the book but feel it needs a warning to those who will feel GUT PUNCHED and suckered by not knowing what they are getting into.

OK, now you know what to expect. But what about the book???? A great deal of hand wringing and self doubt. Like A LOT. Too much. After half way through I was sick of hearing about how our heroine Kat felt. And I couldn't live with that."

How about a quote from the meat of the suspense: "Just because your paranoid doesn't mean nobody's after you."
But really there was not ENOUGH suspense or at least I was too preoccupied by all the overpowering emotion baggage from Kat.

This is Stepford Wives in a Trans-Urban twist. Therefore, I need pantyhose or tights, and no one on the planet makes what I want.

PROS - Fit: Let me be clear when I say that I am NOT interested in hosery that also doubles as shapewear. All of this control top nonsense is for the birds, because it doesn't make anyone look better, it just makes you look like you are shoved into a sausage casing. Yeah, you may have a little less of a pooch in front, but guess what? You are also flattening down the natural curves of your hips and butt, and I am not okay with that. I am also not okay with the open cheek varieties I see now because squeezing my posterior through a garment hole just makes me look like a busted can of biscuits. You can clearly see a line where your rump has freed itself from confinement, and tried to triumphantly escape back into the wild like Free Willy.

That's where this product was pretty much perfect. The fit is phenomenal, and not trying to pack you in like shapewear. Extremely comfortable!

PROS - Durability: Though I like the natural flesh look of some sheer pantyhose, I HATE the fragility of them. You never know when you're going to suffer a critical run. Sometimes pantyhose last a month, sometimes I don't even get them past my knees......you just gotta turn it up to Jesus. Therefore, I also look toward natural flesh colored tights, because they are more durable than pantyhose. These are definitely sturdy, but medium density as far as sheerness goes. My leg tattoo is almost completely invisible with these on, which I don't like, but that's the price you pay for durability.

CONS - What on Gods Green Earth is This Color?????? It does that well, and I am happy to give this three stars based on that low-expectation functionality.

Fire TV 4K fails to get any more stars because I do not enjoy the user interface. I do not like that I have no way to explicitly browse content that streams for free via my Prime membership. I am frustrated that Amazon consistently interjects media content that is pay-per-view in search results and category browsing. Amazon has intentionally chosen not to include flagging on the thumbnails that identifies which content is Prime and which is not. In the mobile Prime Video app interface, this is a convenient feature. Fire TV has introduced a regression in this regard by requiring users to click on a thumbnail before they can find out if something is pay-per-view or free. I am tempted to drop a star on this review simply because of this frustration.

Another thing that sucks about the UI is the proliferation of horizontal scrolling of thumbnails. This requires a separate button push for EVERY thumbnail, of which there are usually dozens in a horizontally-arranged list. I would prefer to see vertical pages of thumbnails that I could scroll down on and only have to push the button per row of three or four thumbnails. I suspect there was some user group testing where they found people perceived the collection of content was greater if it was arranged in this manner rather than in vertically-scrolling pages.

I'm also not fond of the trailers they squeeze in front of the content you are trying to watch. It's just another obstacle to have to leap past. It would be one thing if they used their robust analytics capabilities to present properly-targetted content trailers, but it's clearly generic advertising.

My hope is that Amazon will improve these UI failures and make this device much better. My Dell computer (and many others) needed a pure sine wave input and this APC series of UPS produces a "step approximated sine wave". She even emailed me a company white paper that explained why it was not compatible with many of the newer energy star compliant computers that have "Active Power Factor Correction" power supplies. She recommended that I exchange it for their "smart-ups" model SMT1000 which produces a pure sine wave. This sounded OK until I discovered that the SMT1000 costs almost four times as much as the BX1000G! Google for "apc ups active pfc" to learn much more about this problem. You just paid $30 for a very simple light that supposedly interacts with your existing echo devices if you say enough words. Eg you cannot just say “alexa, set rainbow timer for 30 minutes”. You have to address the light specifically “Alexa, set rainbow timer for 30 minutes on <insert device name here>“. Then you get a pretty light and a lot of wires because you have 2 devices plugged in rather than 1.

I would rather pay $50 for a device that had a speaker and microphone with a smaller footprint. I have plenty of smart bulbs and more than enough usb cables running around the house.
It gets 2 stars for the rainbow timer feature which allows for my kids to have a visual of how much time is left.

Sorry much like the echo auto this is a dud for me.

Edit: 2 hours into having it around and a couple more notes:
1. Amazon called me for further feedback which was nice. Kudos to support.
2. I first bought one in 2007 for my small NYC office. About 15 people used it several times a day and it worked beautifully! We loved the ability for each of us to have the kind of coffee or tea, or even hot chocolate, that we preferred. When that machine wore out after about 4 years I felt that I had gotten more than my money's worth from it.

In 2008 I bought a similar machine for my home. It was as great as the one I had in my office. That one was used by the family, also several times a day, for about three years. When it broke I bought another just like the one we had. At that point, around 2010, I noticed that this third machine was not as well made as the first two. It had more plastic parts and splashed a lot of coffee outside of the cup as it filled. And it actually had a note in the box that said something like, "There will be splashing as your cup fills and that's normal." In other words, this is a design flaw and customers should just deal with it. (This problem did not happen with the previous machine.)

That pot broke and I just tossed it and started to use my old, reliable Melitta Grind and Brew, which I've had forever and it works great. But I have to brew a whole pot of coffee when I often just want one cup. So a few weeks ago I ordered another Keurig, more or less the same model I always had, from Amazon. Well, the product is even more cheaply made -- and for no reduction in price. This one broke yesterday after just a couple of weeks of use. I wanted a way to track my runs without taking my phone with me. (read cons for why I still can't go without my phone) The GPS lost signal during a portion of my run my run..... My phone still had good signal, so not sure why the Versa lost GPS signal. It wasn't for a long period of time (maybe a 0.10 of a mile?), but still disappointing.
* SpO2 % - Pretty cool that it can track this....but it only gives a range from when you are sleeping. No way to spot check this. Cannot figure out why they didn't make this possible.
* The flat back - the Versa line is the only fitness/smartwatch I have been able to tolerate. I despise the raised round backs of so many others. The back of this watch causes no discomfort.

Cons:
* No music storage - wth Fitbit?!?! So you added GPS, but took away music storage. Major design flaw. It can only stream music when connected to a phone via Bluetooth, so I *still* must take my phone on runs with me. This is the reason I am returning the watch. ***EDIT*** - So....you can store music for offline use *ONLY* if you subscribe to Deezer or Pandora. So, It will cost at $10/month to store music. Spotify will only allow to to control the music from the watch, but doesn't allow for offline music. In fact, it’s the first book in years that I actually pre-ordered. The premise is interesting enough: there is an ethereal library that exists between life and death. You are permitted to choose any book from the shelves and each book contains an alternative life. Each life is what would have resulted if you changed a single decision you regretted. Interesting, right? Like you could see what would have happened if you’d gone for that coffee date or pursued that master’s degree or kept playing piano. In the midst of each new life, if the life-hopper finds herself disappointed, she winds up back at the library to try again. Eventually, you’ll either find a life that is the best possible outcome or your “root life” blinks you away into death.

Unfortunately, the premise is played out in the most expected way possible. Nora Seed reverses her regrets and realizes that even the best alternate universes have uncertainties and pain and sadness and disappointment. Even when she winds up with her dream job and a great family, she can’t stay to play this life out. Why? Well, because it isn’t really “hers.” So, surprise, surprise, she ends up waking up from her suicide attempt with a new appreciation for the life she once had and longed to depart.

If you read the first 30-40 pages of this book, you’ll probably be able to write the rest of it in your mind. It’s supposedly an opportunity to explore infinite universes, so why choose the most predictable course of actions? To get across the point that you ought to realize the beauty of the life we have around us? Just write a greeting card to convey the message; an entire book is unnecessary. Additionally, it seems like the author either doesn’t understand or chose not to really explore the idea of infinite options. In all her lives, the most remarkably unique one is granted one sentence of exploration, “In one life she only ate toast” (212). | 2 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Books.parquet | Books | 2.0 | Useful marketing book but it's also a teaser for up-scaling to expensive online and other courses. | This is an insightful book especially if you are a bit new to marketing. While building a story brand is nothing new, Miller does a more than adequate job setting up its importance in marketing and then fleshing out the details in section two. After a good discussion of the StoryBrand Brand Script (SB7), in section three he discusses how to implement this to build a better website - still spot on material. He then discusses how this can apply to a large organization, then wraps up the book by giving a so-called StoryBrand marketing Road Map.

However, this is where the book and his obvious marketing ploy at the often hapless reader falls apart. At the most crucial stage of the book he skimps on each of the five elements of the Road Map, all the time mentioning that there is more to be learned at his live conferences held periodically and also online. While it's OK to mention this option, it is over-bearing. Not only does it become over-bearing, but the last part of the book is intentionally short of implementation details as a way to draw the reader into wanting, or "needing" more to implement the book's overall strategy. It's clever. After just investing the time and energy to read the previous near 200 pages and being sold on how important the Story Brand is to marketing success, you have now been geared to actually want more to bring the circle, both learning, implementation and even emotionally - complete.

The next logical step is to check out his company online. This is where I balk again at Miller's strategy. His live courses are just under $2000 per person, but if that's not an option, including for me since I currently work in Southeast Asia, there's an online course option, which comes in at a whopping $1500. Worse yet, the price is not give on his well-crafted website but you have to "request" permission to apply for the course, then in an email the price is sent with another problematic notion, a 48-hour ticking clock to make the decision to buy the course. I thought the gradual pace of vowel and consonant introduction would make reading easier and give a natural progression. My 4-year old son read the first 3 or 4 books in the series, we were both excited, and all was well. I was thinking 4 or 5 stars.

Then within a week, my son refused to read the books. I knew that he could - he was certainly capable - but anytime I mentioned them, he would whine, complain and tell me that he didn't want to. This from the boy who is a book nut and would have me read to him 24-7 if possible! He would sit with me so I could read other books to him, and even try to read them himself, but wanted nothing to do with the Bob Books. This went on for months with the same response.

It wasn't until I started doing a bunch of literacy reading and research for my job that I realized the probable reason why the Bob Books are gathering dust on our shelves when all of the other books are well loved. They are dull. They are boring and can hardly be qualified as stories. Does anyone really talk like that? "Mat sat. Cat sat. Mat and cat sat." No wonder he would rather I read him books like "The Complete Book of Farmyard Tales" by Heather Amery or "Frederick" by Leo Lionni or classic tales like "The Gingerbread Man" or "The Fox and the Crow."

In my research, I came across two books that I highly recommend to anyone who wants their child to learn to read. Trelease talks about the pleasure aspect of reading - humans want to do things that give them pleasure and shy away from things that don't, it's just human nature. Plus, I've tested and reviewed telescopes, accessories, and eyepieces for major companies, so I'm pretty sure I know what to look for and recommend. There's good and bad stuff out there, and it isn't always easy for novices to get a grip on the difference, without either using an item, or finding an accurate report about it.

First of all folks, please know that a "lens" is the glass on the business-end of a refractor telescope, or the optic on your CAMERA. The thing you attach to a telescope is called an "EYEPIECE" -- not a "lens".

Secondly, any "set" of eyepieces is generally going to be 90 percent useless. That's because most of the higher powered eyepieces in the set will only get used once or twice -- until you finally realize that high powers are only useful on a telescope if you're in a VERY DARK LOCATION, with almost perfect sky conditions (an extremely rare combination!).

These eyepieces are all 4-element Plossl's -- a very old and very basic design, but very tried-and-true for general observing. The 32mm is the best in the set, and probably the one you'll use the most.

The 2X Barlow is of average quality, but can be very useful -- it'll turn the 32mm into a 16mm without cutting eye-relief (good, if you wear glasses).

The Moon filter is a necessity if you want to do any lunar observing. Only one or two of the color filters will be useful.

So what we have here, is one useful eyepiece, a 2X Barlow, a Moon filter, and a color filter or two -- for which you'd pay a lot less by purchasing just those items SEPERATELY. And if you shop smart, you'll find a high-quality 32mm Plossl and a 2X Barlow -- Televue for example, are hands-down the best production optics available! KitchenAid Mini Choppers | When I starting searching for a mini-chopper I was surprised by the huge rating difference between the Cuisinart DLC2 and the KitchenAid KFC3100, so I bought both and did a side-by-side comparison. The only explanation I can give for the ratings difference is that Cuisinart buyers must have higher expectations. For most operations they have nearly identical performance and for some operations the Cuisinart is the clear winner.

Onions: Many Cuisinart reviewers panned its performance here, claiming it made onion purée, but most KitchenAid reviewers praised its onion chopping ability. I found almost no difference between the two. Maybe its an issue with the instructions - for chopped onions you must use a few short pulses. A few more pulses and you get minced onion - more than this and both give you onion puree. I wouldn't say either is great at chopping onions, but both are equally mediocre.

I also tested chopping nuts, and making breadcrumbs with similar results. Both performed about the same for a course chop, although the Cuisinart produced a more even chop on the nuts, but its when you want a really fine chop that the Cuisinart starts to shine. The first reason for this is the grind feature found only on the Cuisinart. This spins the blade in the opposite direction which allows the flat, back-side of the blade to impact the food. More importantly, it redistributes the food, so if you've got a couple of chunks that refuse to be chopped, a short pulse in the opposite direction helps it drop into the blade. For perfect, fine breadcrumbs I alternate between the normal chop mode for a few seconds, and grind for one second.

The other reason the Cuisinart gives a better fine chop is that it does a much better job of cycling the food through the blade. This is a real key when you're working with softer foods like spreads, pâtés or purees. When I made a cream cheese spread in both choppers the Cuisinart did a far quicker and better job of pulling the ingredients down the c… | B00005LA9F | B00005LA9F | AEXGR3HUVNEXBO43HMKYSKM5EE6A | 1096131619000 | 1416 | False | 587 | 9 |

Interestingly, I didn't start watching the show until it was in its 9th season. I dismissed it as a "chick show," but when I finally started catching re-runs when I was in college, it had me rolling! It was right at this point that they began releasing the full seasons on DVD. So every time a new season was released on DVD I went right out and bought it. The first time that I saw many of these episodes (probably 80% of the series) was on DVD. For those of you that don't know this, the DVDs actually contained longer episodes than what had been originally broadcast on NBC. Each 20-minute episode contained another 2 or 3 minutes of dialogue/story. And it wasn't excessive stuff that needed to be cut, many of my favorite lines in the show were in these extended scenes. In fact, when I go back and watch re-runs of the show now I can't believe how much of it is missing. I still love my DVDs though, special features and all! But when I watch them now on my 47" TV I notice that they look pretty rough. There's lots of pixelation and fuzziness, and the episodes aren't formatted for widescreen. Certain channels have been showing the episodes in HD and they look gorgeous! I thought to myself, "I would actually buy the whole series over again on Blu-Ray if it had all the extended episodes and bonus features from the standard DVD set."

When I learned that "Friends" was coming to Blu-Ray I was so excited, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. Then I learned that this Blu-Ray boxed set would not contain the previously released extended episodes, but would instead have them as they appeared in the original NBC broadcast. Warner Home Video's reason for this is as follows: "The extended cuts were special versions created for the DVDs and no longer exist in a form that could be used for a Blu-ray release." ...What does THAT mean? | 2 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Pet_Supplies.parquet | Pet_Supplies | 2.0 | Not the same litter these days... | I've been using this litter for almost a year now, and decided to wait a long time to see how it performs before leaving a review. We have five adult cats and three very large custom-made litter boxes (made from the giant covered Rubbermaid totes, as three of our cats are 20+ pounds (and not fat, they are big breeds)). The cats range from 8 years old (two of them) to 12+. Litter and cleaning litter boxes is something I feel like I'm an expert in by now (having been an indoor cat owner for almost twenty-five years).

At first, after coming from almost a pure dust-based litter like Scoop-Away, this product was a blessing. I tried it, the corn/wheat based stuff, other synthetic types, and as I whittled down which litters were the best, this one, by far, was the absolute best when it came to odor, dust, tracking, and general enjoyment (I don't really say that with a straight face, as litter boxes are anything but enjoyable, but Precious Cat made the daily job far, far more enjoyable than before).

Three months ago I was finally ready to leave a glowing review, but then suddenly the litter that started arriving regularly from Amazon was the same bag, but the contents seem to have cheapened. This litter is now almost as dusty as the stuff I used to use, and this is a huge problem. The minimal tracking qualities of this litter has also shifted, and where I could do little easy spot cleanups daily as I cleaned the boxes, I now have to vacuum every other day as this stuff is all over the house (it's not pleasant to find it UNDER the fitted sheet on a bed, since the cats love to get on the bed before it gets made when we change the sheets/blankets).

The odor control is no longer 'control' but more like 'non-existent'. Typically, we don't have odor issues, as again, I clean these boxes daily without fail (and if I don't, someone else does... it has to happen daily with this many cats or it does become a problem). Lately though, it's getting unpleasant. Keep in mind, once per month, I completel… | B0009X29WK | B0BNK5Y3R8 | AFB5GOKTZKTT5UB2Z6V73FB3CJWQ | 1397613406000 | 3498 | True | 555 | 9 |
| 3 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Books.parquet | Books | 3.0 | Warning! Warning! Warning! | Ok, I'm giving this book only three stars despite the fact that, judged solely on its own merits, it probably deserves the 4 or 5 most people give it. Before you condemn me too harshly though, I'm doing it for a very good reason!
Before you read all the glowing reviews and buy this book, be warned: This is the start of a very long, drawn-out series. Not long and drawn-out in the sense that it's an "epic" story that needs time and patience to tell, but more in the sense that the author has discovered he has a virtual cash machine in his keyboard, and he's milking it for every last penny it's worth.
"But if they're good..." you think. Uh-huh. But they're not, you see.
The first four or five books in the series are excellent; I'd be lying if I said otherwise. Can Robert Jordan write? You bet your bottom he can -- but only when he puts his mind to it. Starting with the abysmal "Path of Daggers," the series' progress has slowed to a sad crawl. In each successive book, less and less happens, and more paper is wasted describing clothing, repeating characters' annoying mannerisms, and introducing new characters who don't seem to do anything to advance the plot. Maybe he doesn't know how to finish it... but that doesn't stop him adding to the misery.
How much of this do you think you can take? The 10th book is coming out soon; are you that patient? Will you really be able to stand seeing these cinderblock-sized lumps taking up more and more space on your bookshelf, nudging out more deserving titles? Will your wallet stand up to being burdened with a never-ending book series you're obliged to read because you've got too much invested to quit? What about when people come over, notice that massive row of "Wheel of Time" novels, and ask, "Oh. Robert Jordan fan, eh?" Will you be proud to turn them on to this series... or embarrassed? Give ya' a clue: Mine are boxed.
Really. It's your call. Go on and start this series if you want to. | 3 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Books.parquet | Books | 3.0 | interesting, with a new twist | I liked this book. It was interesting, the paranormal aspects were fairly unique, and I love a story with a long family history like this one has.

But I just liked it. It never grabbed me by the throat and demanded that I keep reading. I think, mostly, this was because the pacing was off. There was too much time during the story when I was relaxed and not worried about whether the characters were going to get out of trouble. Sure, there were intense moments when I was glued to the pages, but then things slowed down too much and I was lulled into a strange sense of security. This made it too easy to set the book down.

The characters weren't as developed as I wanted them to be, either. Ethan's voice felt too feminine to me. Actually, when I first started reading, I thought the story was from Lena's perspective, just based on the voice. Then, after I adjusted to Ethan's voice, he didn't feel real to me. His entire character felt cliche, like the teenage girl's ideal boyfriend, not what boys are actually like (I think another reviewer said this, and I couldn't agree more).

Then there was the setting. It didn't *feel* like the south. To me, the story could have taken place in any rural situation. We didn't get a sense of southern culture, which is so unique and could have had an amazing impact on the story. A really good example of southern setting, by the way, is Shadowed Summer by Saundra Mitchell. Great book. But I digress...

Beautiful Creatures is a good story. I think it could have been great if it had been shorter, which would have increased the tension and kept the reader glued to the pages through the whole story. Or, at least, if it had a bit more depth to it with the characters and setting. Overall, the only thing that really set it apart was the paranormal aspect, which was really interesting and unique. Unfortunately, it's not enough.

Total side note: I find it interesting, and a little sad, that so many people here are voting agai… | 0316042676 | 0316042676 | AFRJLAKUVGXNLU7LK5DPVBBMW25Q | 1258686779000 | 1309 | False | 405 | 6 |

Like other Ring products, they provide lots of installation extras, including tools, and the instructions were quite good. It was straightforward to add the device to my existing Ring app, do firmware upgrades, etc. However, there are some limitations that I found frustrating.

Pros:
- Excellent instructions
- Good setup user experience (though I struggled with the Ring Pro, so perhaps I benefited from knowledge gained through that painful process)
- Don't need to worry about batteries dying with the plug-in model
- Motion capture settings easy to configure/change
- With the subscription, stored video captures are often quite useful

Cons:
- There is no hardwired Ethernet option (this is a security camera - why only WiFi?)
- There is no 5GHz WiFi support (big oversight)
- The motion-activated "spotlight" LEDs kill the night vision of the camera, so as soon as motion is detected, the lights turn on and the camera can't see as far in the dark. I'd estimate that the visible distance is cut by 60% when the LEDs come on. There is no way to disable the "spotlight" LEDs coming on in response to motion, even though the app suggests that you can.
- There is no model that substitutes infrared LEDs for the white LEDs. I'd much rather have a camera that doesn't generate any visible light but can see much farther at night than an expensive motion-activated light fixture.
- The camera mount must be installed with the cord facing down. Despite having a twist-lock connector that suggests different rotations are possible, attempting any other alignment will damage the power pins. The instructions do not warn against this.
- The plug can't be removed from the cord. If you want to pass the cord through a wall to make the installation cleaner, you have to cut the plug off the cord and void the warranty.

Summary - this is an OK camera, but lack… | B0756P26HL | B07G62CTBW | AFUGFCGFAYCOO7X5II5TI2T7RAIQ | 1515121478041 | 1041 | True | 370 | 6 |

The older model is overlooking the front of the garage and the newer model is overlooking the front yard. They both get internet signals from the same wired Access Point Extender, which is 6 feet away. The older model is connected to the 2.4 GHz band and the Pro model is connected to the 5 GHz (I tried both the 2.4 and 5GHz bands on the newer model).

I included pictures so you can compare and make your own decision. If you look at the gray car parked on the street and the black garage door from the house across the street, the image from the older model looks better (at least to my eyes). The Floodlight Cam Pro produces images/videos that are more pixelated and not as sharp.

Also, the light triggering sensor is not very accurate. The lights turn on anytime cars drive by the street about 60 feet away, but yet in many instances, when I walk or jump in front of the camera 15-20 feet away, the lights won’t trigger (see video). I have installed three stand-alone floodlights 15 years ago and their motion sensors are significantly more accurate than the floodlight cams.

I have to give kudos to Ring’s customer service department; they have been communicating with me and working diligently to find ways to address the issues and improve the product. I hope that these problems are not hardware related and maybe a future firmware update may resolve this.

Update 5/20/21: After researching and reading other reviews that compared the two models as I did side-by-side, I’m leaning on returning this Floodlight Cam Pro and getting the older model instead. So there is absolutely no doubt about the difference in image quality, I have included two more pictures where I am holding a sign with letters and numbers (similar to a license plate) 4 steps away from each floodlight cam. Clearly, the image quality on the older model is better; the sign is sharper and much easier to read. I used the smaller of the 2 pair and I wear a size 10 women's shoe. Honestly, that larger pair would be for a man with very large feet, for sure. I donated that set to the thrift store.
- Working up to wearing these for multiple hours, Yogabody separators didn't work well for my 4th and 5th toes. These toes, which never had pain, would start to exhibit pain and almost feel numb. You can't make any adjustments to the separators and I thought of cutting them but instead, after hours of research, and consideration, I spent $60 and bought Correct Toes separators. Hands down, well worth the investment. I say this because if you find yourself here wanting to spend less money, as I did, I highly recommend putting the investment of $45 extra into your feet. I actually had a little trouble taking it apart / putting it together because I was afraid I'd break it. Everything worked out.

The first thing I tried was tahini and hummus. I couldn't figure out why my hummus recipe didn't want to work in this 3.5 cup mini food processor when it worked fine in my old processor which was smaller. So I measured, and - KitchenAid really misnamed this thing. They overstated how much fits in the container. The "3.5 cup" container starts to overflow through the center column if you have 2 1/3 cups of liquid. The center pole (which the blade assembly sits on) has a hole in it and is less than 2 1/2 inches high. The sides are 3 1/8 inches high. That means, if you go over 2 1/2 inches, it will overflow through the middle. It doesnt hold 3.5 cups of dry ingredients either. I tried. It holds about three if you go all the way up to the top. Naturally, you wouldn't process anything that went all the way up to the top.

I SUPPOSE - if you took out the blade assembly - you MIGHT be able to fit 3 1/2 cups of AIR in the thing, but thats a ridiculous way to measure. Who uses a food processor without a blade? I didn't expect to get 3 1/2 cups of usable capacity, but I really didn't expect this to top out at less than 2 1/2.

The instructions list the capacity as:

up to 1.5 cups of liquids / emulsions
up to 2.5 cups cooked fruits & vegetables
up to 3 cups nuts.

If I had known that liquids were limited to 1/5 cups, I probably would have bought a different model.

Anyway. Really like that one, but had the chance to try the Ninja and was excited to give it a whirl. To begin with the thing is LOUD! Wow...compared to my other one, very loud. So annoying. Then there is so much more riga-ma-roll to use the air fryer portion. My other one is an Cuisinart TOA-60 Air Fryer Toaster Oven with Light. LOVE that one. Simple and does the same as Ninja, but in a much more straight forward way. The Ninja takes up more room on my counter, which is okay I guess, but it doesn't automatically pause when you open the door (had to learn that one...) turns the light off, so when I pull open the door to turn things over the light goes out on me...which I would like to have on to see what I'm doing. Also the airfry basket (not sure what THEY call it) it hangs open so things drip down to the crumb catcher. On the Cuisinart the light stays on when I pull the door open, but the fryer pauses until I shut the door. Also with the Cuisinart you put the basket in over a metal sheet that you can remove all in one motion. With the Ninja, you have to put the basket itself on one shelf and then the metal sheet to catch the drips in a different slot lower down....so...you need two hands to take the basket and the sheet out together so you don't drip (if there is something dripping) on everything. So two pot holders instead on just one. I am getting ready to switch BACK to the Cuisinart. Making toast in it is even a big production and takes a lot more time to do for some reason...could be because of the larger cavity. I am finding the whole thing overkill and a lot more work to use than the Cuisinart when I am looking for faster with more ease. I will give some of the other functions a go before I put it away and save it for a backup in case my Cuisinart quits on me. The premise is a good one, and I feel that it teaches some basic engineering ideas (levers, pulleys etc). The book seems well made, on quality paper. The Lego pieces supplied are mainly specialty pieces, to complete the machines. The real issue is the quantity of 'regular' blocks required from your own collection - 167 to be exact. Each machine lists what parts you need from the box, and then just states"plus some from your own collection". Well I took the liberty of listing out what "some" means. The list below is the minimum requirements to build each machine once - not all together, so you will need to disassemble one to build the next. I feel the Mini is an absolutely wonderful form-factor, and I recommend it -- just not yet.

The good:

The size of the mini is just short of an inch wider than your typical competitor. You might not think this is much, but seriously, it is. I absolutely love this aspect of it. In addition, the Mini is just wonderfully light and easy to hold (I have big hands, though).

As much as people rip on the screen, it is comfortably bright, and the battery life seems to last quite well, even if brightened up a bit. No complaints there.

The bad:

That same screen, as others have said, suffers from its low resolution. Had this tablet come out a year ago, it would have been earth-shattering. Now, when other offerings from Android are coming out with far better resolutions, it's just meh (the Apple Mini's contrast and color are still superior to the Nexus 7 by far, though). If you are someone coming from an I-pad 2, you won't care about the resolution so much. For everyone else who is used to I-phones with substantially smaller, yet sharper resolutions, you will notice the difference.

Also, and this is a big one for me, I have found that the I-pad Mini is slow to buffer YouTube videos. I'm pretty sure this has to do with it having half of the Ram of its larger pad family members. Cutting the Ram in half was a big mistake. It also seems to cause lags in surfing on only some sites that are more graphic intense. I wasn't sure if this problem was one of my own, so I tried out some other Mini's in the store side-by-side with I-pad 2's and Retinas. Same thing... slow Youtube buffering. Quite a bit slower.

I want to tell you to buy this thing, but I just can't. I want to tell you to wait until next year when the tech is there to up resolution and add more Ram. (They are a little stiffer than the original Apple cable.) I charged my iPad with one of the cables and had no issues. The DROK USB Tester I had inline showed the iPad to be charging at a little over 5 volts and 2.32 amps, and the charging indicator showed green with no incompatibility warnings.

So I decided to start working on a positive 5-star review showing the pictures of the charging status along with the DROK USB Tester indicating the voltage and current. When I plugged in the 2nd charge cable however the charging amperage dropped from 2.32 amps to .08 amps (not good). I flipped the cable over and plugged it in and got 2.32 amps again, but it went back down to .08 amps when I plugged the cable back in the original position (AmazonBasics logo pointing up, see the pics below.)

I tried cleaning the contacts and used several different chargers with no change. I tested the same cable with my iPhone and the charging amperage jumped around from 1.18 to 1.45 amps. I DO NOT RECOMMEND a Fire 7 AT ALL if your looking for a quality tablet that’s small and inexpensive like I was. The only reasons I can see anyone buying a Fire 7 is if it’s for a very, very young child as a starter tablet or if your an adult who will only use it to read books. Otherwise the Fire HD 8 is going to be your best bet.

The Fire HD 8 is great quality for it’s size and yes even it’s price. It’s the perfect size unlike the Fire 7 which to me really isn’t much larger in screen size than my iPhone 6+. The Fire HD 8 comes with an ample amount of storage to be able to handle whatever updates it throws at you upon setup, and that’s just the 16GB. Anything below 16GB is not enough to handle device updates and allow for storage space for much of anything. There’s not much money saved either in buying a Fire 7 8GB with a micro SD Card, been there, done that and I won’t do it again!

Now onto the fun stuff. The Fire HD 8 is HD! It has a longer battery life, downloads faster, has better sound quality and video quality than the Fire 7. It’s also easier to start up a game and actually play it than the Fire 7. Everything that is possible to do with a Fire HD 8 Tablet is much more fun and less time consuming than a Fire 7. I highly recommend the Fire HD 8 Tablet if aside from reading, gaming and watching videos is also as important.

The only problem I have encountered with both Fire Tablets is their very finicky Location Services. I would have given the Fire HD 8 Five Stars if the Location Services worked better and therefore enabled me to restore from a backup. | 3 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Electronics.parquet | Electronics | 3.0 | Great device, but BUYER BEWARE the EULA | I am a PhD student with a planned academic career in health care research. I purchased this product to reduce eye strain related to reading ~1,000 PDFs per year, mostly on electronic screens. My rating for this product is based on three components:
1) The EULA - Sony very much oversteps with the EULA, disallowing opt out for data collection and providing themselves with permission to collect data not just from the Digital Paper itself but also from any device connected to the Digital Paper. The Digital Paper requires connection to a PC to operate (only way to load documents into the DP), meaning that Sony has effectively given itself permission to mine unspecified data from my PC and use it without any real restrictions, including expressly permitting themselves to share my data with unspecified third parties.

2) The battery life - Sony advertises "up to 3 weeks" of battery on a single charge, for a device specifically marketed toward professionals in industries where document viewing is typically heavy, yet their conditions for battery testing to make that claim were 60 minutes of viewing for up to 30 pages of text and 1 minute of stylus use per day with the wifi and bluetooth features turned off. In actuality, a battery charge lasts about 2 days with reasonably heavy use of both the screen and the stylus for marking up documents and taking notes with wifi connected to allow transfer of documents.

3) The device itself - the only reason this device has gotten better than a 1 star from me is that the device itself is pretty awesome. It definitely reduces eye strain. It's weighs less than a legal pad and is about the same size (slightly wider). The stylus is very responsive, making the device useful for hand-written annotations and note taking. I've been much more productive since purchasing this device and really think there is a market for such machines, though it is a bit pricey for the limited functionality. The NC was much improved and I did a little research to see why this might have had happened. This is what I found from the Bose website about their new firmware update at the beginning of October:

"With firmware version 1.3.6 comes a change in the Noise Cancelling performance of QC30. The Noise Cancellation has been improved in the lower frequencies to make it more consistent with QC20’s performance."

Based on this and my experience with my co-worker's set I purchased again and have taken them on several flights. They do now perform similar to the QC20i.

If this were my first time buying the QC30s I'd give it 4 or 5 stars. Since I feel they released the product prematurely and also didn't prepare their support staff for the release, I'm only going to raise my score to 3 stars.

ORIGINAL REVIEW

I have owned the QC25, 2 sets of the QC20i (I lost one set) and now the QC35. All have great noise cancellation and sound. I love the wireless convenience of the QC35. I was looking forward to the QC30 as a replacement for the QC20i. I found out from Bose support it’s not intended to be a replacement.

I fly between 60 to 90 times per year and rely on the noise cancellation. With all previous models, announcements, conversations around me and screaming babies weren’t a problem. That’s not the case with the QC30. On my 4 hour flight this week I could hear everything. The only way to drown out the kid 3 rows behind me was to turn the music up to full. I typically don’t play music but only leave NC on and work or read. That’s not possible with the QC30. I switched between the QC35 and QC30 and there is absolutely no comparison in NC. | 3 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Electronics.parquet | Electronics | 3.0 | Overall improvement, but lost its flexibility | I have 5 Echo Dots (gen 2) and we use them throughout the house for just about everything, being we have a fairly smart home. What I liked about the gen 2 versions, were that they were compact and very flexible on how you could use them. They were easy to mount in different positions and being that they used a fairly standard USB interface for the power, you could really be flexible on how and where you mounted them. The one thing that they really missed on? The well known sound quality.

Enter the Gen 3...
I really like the improvement in sound. Sure it is not a high quality speaker system, but for the size it is pretty good. Especially when you consider that you can pair them and add a sub for pretty good sound. The look is improved over the gen 2, however it does lose a little bit of the customability that the gen 2 had. With the gen 2, you could purchase different wraps, stands, clock mounts, wall mounts, etc. You could really customize it. The gen 3 is a bit bigger and has a much more rounded shape. While it makes it look better by itself, it lacks the ability to really customize it. It surely would not work as a power socket mount, like you could do with the gen 2, just due to the additional weight.

That is before you get to the horrendous power cord and adapter. The power adapter is twice as big as the gen 2 and the power cord went away from the, easy to find, usb style cord to a old style input style and it is permanently attached to the power adapter. This is really my biggest complaint as it took away so much flexibility, that you could enjoy with the gen 2. Don't get me wrong, I am sure there will be several new cords and adapters put out to fill the gap, but that is not as easy as using cords many already have. Just makes no sense. Not to mention the cord is really long, so in areas where you want it to be a bit more discreet, this thing sticks out like a sore thumb.

What I like...
Sound Quality is a step up
Sound Volume is much improved
Base look is… | B0792K2BK6 | B0792K2BK6 | AGSNX44GHDV6VUM5NRAJRLKM26FQ | 1539635892465 | 2233 | True | 419 | 7 |

First you peel off one side of the backing with a tab. You then place the screen onto the iPad screen, trying to do so without leaving a lot of bubbles. I tried as best I could to align the screen hole over the iPad button and then slowly applied the rest of the screen moving from bottom to top. Unfortunately after applying the screen and then removing the outside of the clear screen with the other tab, I was left with a LOT of bubbles.

Hoping to do better I repeated the process using the second of the supplied screens. My efforts the second time were a bit better in terms of a smaller amount of bubbles, but then I noticed a piece of yellow lint that had been left by the supplied yellow cleaning cloth that I had used to wipe the iPad screen. When I tried to remove the lint with the cloth and replaced the clear screen back onto the iPad screen, there was a noticeable smudge.

I was now down to the last of the three supplied screens and repeated the process again except this time I discovered that when applying the clear screen to the iPad screen DIAGONALLY starting from the bottom and moving toward the top, you can do so leaving almost no bubbles at all. Some are Stephen King haters complaining about the price being charged for King, and other writers. Other false reviews are posted to register their umbrage at King due to his left-leaning political views.

Further, many reviewers who take pride in posting serious reviews get slammed for daring to be fans of his horror stories. Be that as it may, I will post my thoughts on his latest work, a short story that feels less new than some of his other more recent books.

At 160 pages, we get exposed to a character who's story feels just like any other main character in a SK Horror. His 'problem' is one that people of my weight think would be a blessing instead of an adversity. What is different in this story is that it becomes very un-King in the path it takes, but to say more might be seen as a spoiler, so I shall stop here.

BLUSH FACTOR: In case you're wondering, the writing does include some eff-words, so you probably won't want to read it to your children or prayer group, unless you are skilled at skipping over the moderate number of profanities.

THE WRITING & EDITING: Professional quality in terms of mechanics. Insofar as the story, though, this is quite tame, especially for King. The feel of this story reminds me of the stories King wrote for the iPad and for the Kindle, except that this one is oriented more towards the dissension prevailing across the American political spectrum.

BOTTOM LINE

Despite my favorable disposition towards the author, and his political ideology, which I share, the lack of originality in the tale has me less impressed than I expected. Here's the owners manual they should have included:

1) When placed in direct sun light, the four LEDs at the bottom right of the device will flash from left to right. The rate at which they are flashing indicates the rate at which the internal battery is being charged. The faster they flash, the more power you are getting from the sun. Put the solar cells in direct sun light for maximum charge.

2) When the device is fully charged (although it does not have to be fully charged to attempt to charge your device) all the LEDs will go out.

3) While the battery is charging (and the LEDs are flashing) you can press the silver button quickly to see an indication of the internal power level of the battery. Some said it was perfect, some said there was a large gap. The mattress does drop neatly into the base of the playard (I removed the bottom mat that came with the playard before putting the mattress in). However, the mattress is far from snug. It fits, kind of, but it is not a perfect fit. Without pushing the mattress off to the sides, there is a gap around the edges of the mattress and the sides of the playard. Since the sides of the playard are flexible, you can't really measure the width of the gap. Around 2" if you don't force it, 4" if you do. So the gap is not big enough for a baby to fall into and get stuck, but it is definitely not snug like a crib mattress is to a crib. So while you're looking at the gap and wondering if it's large enough to be a risk, there's a giant warning tag on the playard that warns not to use any mattresses that did not come with it.

I tried putting the mattress about the playard pad, and I tried putting the playard pad on top of the mattress. This does not resolve the gap. I will try to upload a picture showing the gap of the mattress and playard, if I can figure out how.

Edit: I uploaded an image showing the size of the gap.

Bottom line, it fits the Graco playards, but not perfectly. But I thought I should tell of my opinion seeing as I am mildly autistic myself, & have interacted with other autistic beings from all across the spectrum.

I'm sure you already know what this book is focused on: a 15-year-old boy named Christopher, plagued by a case of autism more severe than my own, & he plays the literal-minded narrator. Indeed the author pulls very hard to make Christopher sound like an authentic autistic person, & I can't say he failed. This story is more about him than the murdered dog, his family's turmoil, anything.
& yet I had a very hard time liking Christopher. His character never shines a single moment of empathy for others. Very bluntly he tells his audience of the people surrounding him, but his voice holds such devoid distance as if these people are hollow shells not quite alive. At one point in the story, a torn person pleas for Christopher to hold their hand... just this once, & Christopher refuses apathically.
I strongly dislike being touched, however I will suck it up & allow myself to be touched or even reach out to hug someone if I feel they truly need it.
As much as I know that these are the lines that separate the mild from the severe cases, it still remains hard for me to feel for Christopher knowing that he cannot feel for others beyond himself. (On another note, some people with autism are known to feel physical pain with skin to skin contact. Christopher never mentions such a thing, so it seems clear that he `feels' like me when it comes to touching.)

Despite this stoic nature, the story unfolds in such a way that others' emotions bleed through the pages via bits of dialog & in their simple actions. The situation is a tender one & very raw at its root.
At the same time I found the other characters unlikable as well. While it becomes lucid later, Christ's father seems to cage his son, banning his curiosity. Friedman not only writes well, but does so on an important subject- globalization. He states, "It is now possible for more people than ever to collaborate and compete in real time with more people on more different kinds of work from more different corners of the planet and on a more equal footing than at any previous time in the history of the world."

He claims, "When the world is flat, you can innovate without having to emigrate". But, how did the world `become flat'? Friedman suggest the trigger events were the collapse of communism, the dot-com bubble resulting in overinvestment in fiber-optic telecommunications, and the subsequent out-sourcing of engineers enlisted to fix the perceived Y2K problem.

Those events created an environment where products, services, and labor are cheaper. However, the West is now losing its strong-hold on economic dominance. Depending on if viewed from the eyes of a consumer or a producer - that's either good or bad, or a combination of both.

What is more sobering is Friedman's elaboration on Bill Gates' statement, "When I compare our high schools to what I see when I'm traveling abroad, I am terrified for our work force of tomorrow. In math and science, our fourth graders are among the top students in the world. By eighth grade, they're in the middle of the pack. By 12th grade, U.S. students are scoring near the bottom of all industrialized nations. . . . The percentage of a population with a college degree is important, but so are sheer numbers. In 2001, India graduated almost a million more students from college than the United States did. China graduates twice as many students with bachelor's degrees as the U.S., and they have six times as many graduates majoring in engineering. | 3 | amazon_2023_5core_subset/review_categories/Electronics.parquet | Electronics | 3.0 | Is this lens as bad as some people say it is? | No it's not especially if you take into account its intended users. If you use a Canon digital SLR and are satisfied with the kit lens (18-55) then buying this lens can be the perfect next step for you. Practically speaking, you will be able to increase your zoom reach to the point where you can A) photograph birds in moderately distant trees, B) be able to zoom in on the other side of a valley and frame something of your interest. Those are just two examples. One thing you will NOT be able to do effectively with this lens, however, is to take sport shots with it. How so? Consider some of the following weakness:

*At 300mm zoom range the highest aperture is limited to 5.6 (You will have to use very slow shutter speed to snap fast action shots; remember the inverse relation between aperture and shutter speed.)

*The lens size/weight combination makes it hard to hold steady when attached to a camera like the Rebel XT

*Slow and often inaccurate auto focus (I just don't understand why Canon makes a USM version of this lens for $20 more, but never includes it in the triple rebate program)

*Chromatic aberration is significant in high contrast lighting like in full sun (if you do not know what Chromatic aberration means search the term online or check out my review of the Canon 28mm 2.8 on Amazon, but to summarize, it would be a discoloration at the fringes of objects in your picture)

Those kinds of weakness will limit your ability to use this lens in all sorts of other situations/circumstances. As a practical rule to follow, if the lighting is less than ideal this lens will give you a hard time. Meaning, it will be possible to use it, but you may get too many blurry images because of shake from slow shutter speeds. As for what are ideal lighting conditions? That would be full sun with few or no clouds and with the light bathing your subject/object from the front or the side.

So is this lens that bad? It WAS there but only for the first few pots. After the first few, it's totally gone. And regarding the quickness of how fast it makes coffee. It works well enough for me. It's done before I know it. Plus, they are WAY less than the Cuisinart brand ones.

The only reason I couldn't give it 5 stars is for one reason. When you go to fill the water reservoir, the lid doesn't open far enough to use the coffee pot. You have to get real creative when you reach the end of the pour. Is that a deal killer? Not really, it's just a minor annoyance and the primary reason I didn't feel this coffee maker was 5 star worthy.

Bottom Line: This is the best coffee maker I have ever owned.
